A subdomain is a part of a web address that is under the main domain, such as name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain since the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Each subdomain can have its own website and records and can also be hosted with a different company if you wish to use a feature that isn't offered by your current provider. An illustration for using a subdomain is if you have a business website as well as an online store under a subdomain where clients can acquire your products. You can also have a forum in which they can comment on the products and by using subdomains instead of subfolders you will avoid any chance of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping your sites separated is more secure in the event of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Shared Hosting

Each and every shared hosting plan we supply will allow you to create many subdomains with no more than a few mouse clicks within your website hosting Control Panel. They are going to be listed in the area in which you create them and grouped under the main domain for more convenience, so you can very easily monitor every one of them. Furthermore, you can access lots of functions for any of the subdomains via right-click context menus - for example, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the site files, and more. While setting up a new subdomain, you're also going to have many options that you can pick from - specify the default access folder, set customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or pick if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The amount of subdomains you'll have is completely up to you as we haven't restricted this feature for any one of our packages.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

Through our semi-dedicated server plans, you're going to be able to create an unrestricted number of subdomains for any of the domains that you add as hosted in the account. It takes a couple of clicks to create a new subdomain and throughout the process you will be able to add unique error pages for it, decide if it will use a shared or a dedicated IP, change the default folder that it will access or activate FrontPage Extensions. All subdomains you've got inside the account will be grouped under their root domain from a to z and you will be able to see and control all of them with ease. Through quick access buttons and right-click menus you will also be able to jump to the site files in the File Manager area or view logs, visitor statistics and other info about any of your subdomains.
